Adam Czuprak

Engineering Leadership Mentor

Go beyond technical excellence. Lead from where you are.

The best engineers don't just become more technically capable. They learn to think more clearly, communicate more effectively, and create greater impact.

I help experienced software engineers increase their impact from the role they're in, or the one they're moving toward.

Get practical mentoring from an engineering leader with 20+ years of experience as an Engineer, Engineering Manager, and CTO.

Let's talk

Adam Czuprak, Engineering Leadership Mentor

Is this for you?

You might be here because some of these questions keep coming back to you:

  • Should I become a manager or stay on the IC path?
  • I've become a manager. Why does this suddenly feel so different?
  • How do I influence without authority?
  • What do I need to demonstrate to get promoted?
  • How do I stay valuable as AI changes engineering?
  • I want Staff-level impact. How do I lead without becoming their manager?

We figure them out together. Bring your situation, questions, or ideas, and we'll work through them to find a useful next step.

My approach

Your next step isn't always obvious.

I use the 3Cs as a mental model to understand where you are and what will help you move forward.

The 3C Engineering Growth Model

  • Clarity — Where am I going?
  • Capability — What do I need to get there?
  • Contribution — How do I create greater impact?

As engineers become more senior, technical expertise alone is rarely enough. Leadership becomes an increasingly important part of engineering, whether you're leading through formal authority as a manager or through influence as an Individual Contributor.

The 3Cs help us find the focus. We focus on the challenges, decisions, and goals that matter most to you right now.

How I help

Some people are choosing their next role. Some already have it and want to get better at it. Others are doing the job well and want more impact.

Clarity

Get clear on the role you want, or what your current role really demands.

  • Should I move into management or pursue the IC path?
  • What does the next level actually require?
  • Building a career strategy that fits my strengths and ambitions
  • Tech lead vs people manager: which seat is actually the job?
  • Making difficult career decisions with confidence

Capability

Get good at the role you're in, or the one you're stepping into.

  • Leading as Staff or tech lead without becoming the people manager
  • Getting ideas through on trust, not title
  • Reviews, hiring, and direction without owning people's careers
  • Leading people who used to be my peers
  • Delegating without feeling like I'm losing control
  • Giving feedback that actually lands, even when it's hard
  • Communicating with executives when the org chart isn't behind you

Contribution

Increase your impact from that role.

  • Continuing to grow as an IC if management isn't the right path
  • How do I increase my impact without simply working more?
  • Leading beyond my immediate team
  • Influencing across teams and navigating organizational complexity
  • Becoming a stronger strategic partner to the business
  • Staying effective as AI changes engineering work and expectations

Your situation comes first. We focus on the challenges, decisions, and goals that matter most to you right now.

The goal is to help you become better at finding your own answers.

About me

I'm Adam Czuprak. I've experienced both the engineering and leadership sides of the work. I've learned that leadership and impact aren't limited to management roles. Senior ICs increasingly need to lead through influence.

For more than 20 years, I've worked in software as an Engineer, Team Lead, Engineering Manager, CTO, and co-founder across startups and international companies. I now help experienced engineers navigate their next stage of growth and succeed on the path they choose.

I've seen excellent engineers get stuck at the next stage of their careers, not because they lacked technical ability, but because the skills that got them this far weren't always the skills they needed next.

That's what led me to mentoring: helping engineers get clear on what's next, grow into it, and create greater impact.

Over more than 10 years in leadership, I've led and mentored engineering teams, reviewed hundreds of CVs, conducted technical and leadership interviews, and supported engineers and engineering managers through career transitions and growth.

I've also built and led multicultural teams across Austria, Canada, Hungary, the UK, and the US, working in both startups and large international organisations.

My mentoring combines this hands-on experience with practical coaching. We focus on the decisions, skills, communication, and challenges that matter in your specific situation.
